French disaster

I guess this blog is for reporting all the ups and downs of our motoring exploits - Unfortunately on our return from holiday in France last month we suffered a potentially very nasty crash on the Autoroute. We were in our BMW 535 D intergalactic cruiser less than lovingly referred to as 'The Tank' by my sons when control of the front was lost instantaneously on the damp motorway. My wife was driving and I was asleep in the passenger sleep. I awoke to everyone screaming and the car spinning and hitting the central reservation twice. Scary. The car came to a stop on the carriageway but fortunately nothing hit us - The front was completely destroyed with debris littering the motorway for several hundred metres. However, the main body of the car was intact and thankfully everyone was just very shaken but unhurt - All being pleased after all that the car was a tank! Insurers have confirmed it as a total loss and have paid out accordingly. As they say it is only metal but it was a brilliant car and will be missed by me at least. R.I.P.
