Yellow Peril

Yesterday out came my 1985 Mini 1380, the 'Yellow Peril' for the first time since the London To Brighton Mini event in May. Surprisingly it started without too much effort and off I set for a little jaunt in the direction of Haywards Heath. 4 miles down the road and true to the form of something going awry every time it comes out, a clanking was heard underneath. Stopping at the side of the road I discovered the rear bolt holing up the exhaust had sheared totally and the pipe was clattering along the ground.

A quick call to Fatrat saved my bacon as he was soon on the scene complete with some rope which we tied round the end of the pipe and the boot handle - A boy scout Nick most definitely was not, but the knots and bodge were good enough to get me home again. I owe him a big glass of Savingon Blanc for that!
